Binary Large Object Check command
The the binary large object (BLOb) checkblobs command check the BLOb space in your database.
RWS recommends that you issue this command before issuing the reap_delete command.
A BLOb is a database structure that contains data for each object including history, notes, and contents. The checkblobs command traverses the Contenta database hierarchy and checks that each BLOb is accessible and free of corruption. If there is a severe system failure, corruption can occur making the data inaccessible. Repair of corrupted blobs must be done with assistance from an RWS representative and the data contained in the corrupted object may be lost.
To minimize the potential for database corruption, use the tools recommended by your database server software provider.
The BLOb checking command allows you to limit which objects are checked to reduce the length of processing time. You can specify how long checkblobs should run or specify a range of blobs to check. Depending on the severity of the corruption checkblobs may terminate when accessing a corrupted blob. In each of these cases you can restart the process, at the point where it stopped processing using the restart switch in combination with the continue switch.
Execute when you suspect a problem with an object or if you have a system problem such as if you lose power or run out of tablespace.
