Configuring an API key for Google Maps

If you want to use Google Maps on your website, specify an API key for Google Maps in Content Manager Explorer, the Site Configuration Component.

Procedure

  1. If you do not have a Google Maps API key yet, visit https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/javascript/get-api-key to obtain one.
  2. Ensure that your key is enabled for these APIs:
    • Google Maps JavaScript API
    • Google Static Maps API
  3. Go to your SDL Web website, and open the Content Explorer.
  4. From the Content Manager pane, in the 100 Master Publication, navigate to Building Blocks/Settings/Core/Site Manager/.
  5. Open the Component called Site Configuration.
  6. Under Settings, ensure the presence of a name-value pair in which Name is set to mapsApiKey, and Value is set to your Google Maps API key.
  7. Select Save and Close to commit your changes and close the Component.
  8. Republish the Page called Publish Settings to apply your changes.
