Automated Tables of Contents
When a source document contains an automatically generated table of contents but the corresponding translation contains a manual table of contents, or vice-versa, this can cause misalignments.
Automatically generated tables of contents are not added to the TextBase, as the contents are not actually text. No reference text is lost as the heading is found in the respective section of the document. For the same reason, the Translation Agent does not stop to translate automatically generated tables of contents as they can simply be updated once the translation is finished.
The alignment problem may come if a source document contains a manually created table of contents and the target document an automatically generated one or vice-versa. In this case, there would be a section of text with no counterpart in the corresponding document and MultiTrans would have difficulty aligning the segments, often establishing either a misalignment or no alignment at all.
Make sure that tables of contents are created the same way in the source and target documents. Alternatively, remove the manually typed tables of contents before adding the documents to a TextBase.
