How do I correct these issues?

Correcting issues caused by roaming profiles.

About this task

The issues arising from roaming profiles can be circumvented automatically during an enterprise deployment; however, if a manual installation is done, the following procedure should be done on each workstation after the MultiTrans installation:

Procedure

  1. From the Start menu, right-click on My Documents and click on Properties. This will display a target folder for the new user logging into the machine, and will at the same time create the user's My Documents folder.
  2. Open the My Documents folder from the Start menu.
  3. Open MultiTrans. MultiTrans will now be able to get the My Documents property from Windows, and will create the My MultiTrans Files folder inside the user's My Documents folder automatically. You should be able to see the My MultiTrans Files folder in the My Documents folder by the time MultiTrans opens.
  4. To validate that this configuration completed correctly, open the Configuration > Preferences menu in MultiTrans and go to the File Locations tab. The Projects, Lists, Export and Analysis Agent file locations should be pointing to \Documents and Settings\YOUR_USER_NAME\My Documents\My MultiTrans Files\etc.
    • If the file locations are correct, all is fine.
    • If the file locations are incorrect, click on the Default button and re-validate the locations.
    • If the file locations are still incorrect (pointing to \My MultiTrans Files or C:\Program Files), then there is an error in what Windows is sending to MultiTrans as the My Documents folder. Close MultiTrans, re-open it, and start the procedure again.
