Creating a filter
You can retrieve or navigate translation units (TUs) easier and faster when you create filters that can be applied to the active translation memory (TM).
Procedure
- In the Translation Memories view, make the translation memory for which you want to create a filter the active translation memory.
- Select Home tab > Filters group > Add from the Ribbon.
- In the Search Details Window, enter the name of the filter in the Filter Name box. The new name is automatically displayed in the TM Filter box with an
*asterisknext to it to indicate this filter is not saved. - Click Add to add a new condition to the filter and open the Add Condition dialog box.
- Create the condition and click OK to save it and return to the Search Details window.
- If you want to add another condition to your filter, click:
- Add to add a new condition below the existing condition.
- Insert to add a new condition above the existing condition.
- If you have added two conditions, you must specify whether both conditions must be satisfied or just one of them:
- Select AND if both must be satisfied.
- Select OR if only one needs to be satisfied.
- If you want to negate a condition (put NOT in front of it) select the NOT check box for the condition.
Note: You can also select the Use parentheses in this filter option which allows you to use parentheses to group conditions which must be executed together.
- Repeat steps 6-8 if you want to add additional conditions until you have completed the filter.
Note: If you want to reuse this filter, you must save the filter.
