Known issues

The table below lists the limitations associated with the 2017 SR1 release of SDL Trados Studio.

These are the issues thatSDL considers important to resolve, but not serious enough to delay the SDL Trados Studio 2017 SR1 release. The development team will prioritize these issues in a future Trados Studio release.

Limited number of languages for the default Solid OCR technology
Optical Character Recognition (OCR) capabilities in the SDL Trados Studio 2017 SR1 PDF file type are limited to 14 languages if you use the default Solid OCR technology. For more information, see http://www.soliddocuments.com/solid-ocr.htm.
If you want OCR to work with a broader range of languages including Asian languages, select the Use IRIS technology for optical character recognition option from the PDF file type Converter settings page. You will be prompted to install the IRIS PDF OCR Support for Studio add-on from the SDL AppStore. See webpage for more information.
Limited Studio editions on domain-based networks
When you try to run the Freelance or Starter version of Studio on a domain-based network, Studio informs you that you cannot run these versions on such a network. This is by design and does not occur on workgroup-based networks or stand-alone computers.
Limited interchange between the SDL Language Cloud providers (2015 vs. 2017) used in projects
When you open projects and project templates, which contain an SDL Language Cloud MT provider, with an SDL Trados Studio version that is earlier or later than the version used to create the project and project template, the Language Cloud provider is disabled. Due to supporting Adaptive MT, projects that use the new Language Cloud provider (2017) are not compatible with earlier versions of the Language Cloud provider (2015). The Language Cloud providers are very different and projects cannot be freely interchanged.
To bypass this limitation, you must remove the Language Cloud provider from the Translation Memory and Automated Translation list, and then add it again.
Due to compatibility issues, locked segments might not appear in reports
Locked segments do not appear for older projects in Analysis statistics window and file window when you run Analysis statistics when the Report Locked segments as a separate category option is selected.
