Using MT providers for all language pairs

You can connect to a Machine Translation (MT) provider to use during pre-translation or translation. As a general rule, you select your MT resources at the All Language Pairs level, which means that the selected MT resources apply to all the language pairs they contain. However, you can also specify MT resources at an individual language pair level, as an exception. Use individual language pairs only if you want to have different MT selections or a different MT order.

Procedure

  1. Decide whether you want to add the MT provider:
    • For all future projects - Go to File > Options > Language Pairs > All Language Pairs.
    • For the current project - Go to the Projects view, select a project. On the Home tab, select Project Settings, and then in the Project Settings dialog, select Language Pairs > All Language Pairs.
The Language Pairs settings are displayed on the right. Any language pairs for which default translation memory selections have been added, are displayed in the Language Pairs box.
  2. Select Translation Memory and Automated Translation from the navigation tree.
  3. Select Use and select one of the following from the drop-down list:
    • SDL BeGlobal Enterprise to connect to an SDL BeGlobal MT provider. Use the SDL LW Enterprise Translation Server option if your company purchased an installation of Language Weaver Enterprise Translation Server and installed it on a server. Use the BeGlobal Online option if you or your company purchased the BeGlobal hosted services (Software as a Service). This requires a user and an API key for authentication.
    • SDL Language Cloud Machine Translation to connect to the MT engines that you subscribed to from your Language Cloud account.
    • Google Cloud Translation to connect to the Google Translate MT provider. This is a paid-for service that requires an API key. The API key you enter here will update all other projects that use Google Translate.
  4. Select OK.
