Creating a Dynamic Address Book from search

Before you begin

To create or manage a Dynamic Address Book you must have Tridion system administration privileges.

About this task

A Dynamic Address Book contains a list of Contacts that share common interests, preferences, or characteristics.

You define a Dynamic Address Book using filters. Contacts are included in the Dynamic Address if their field values match the criteria defined in the search filter. You can create a Dynamic Address Book from any Address Book.

Procedure

  1. Open the Content Manager Explorer.
  2. In the System Administration view, navigate to the Audience Management node.
  3. Select an Address Book:
    • Select the All Contacts node if you want the Dynamic Address Book to contain contacts from across all available Address Books.
    • Select a single Address Book if you want the Dynamic Address Book to contain a subset of Contacts from a specific Address Book.
  4. Define search criteria as described in Searching Contacts and click Search to filter the Contact list.
  5. Click Save, enter a unique Name and click OK:

Results

A Dynamic Address Book is created under the Audience Management node.

What to do next

When you have added a Dynamic Address Book you need to make it available to users in Publications. For more information, refer to Assigning Address Books to Publications.
