Starting and finishing Workflow
You can use Windows Explorer using WebDAV to start an activity assigned to your group, open, edit and save an item you have picked up, and finish an activity you have picked up.
Procedure
- Start Windows Explorer
- Open My Network Places and access the WebDAV server node you have configured.
You see the WebDAV-accessible contents of the Content Manager.
- Among the top-level folders of this node, find a folder called User Work Items and open it. It has three subfolders:
- Assignment List
- Work List
- Finish Activity
- Examine the contents of the Assignment List folder.
You see which items have been assigned to your group.
- To start working on one of these items, drag-and-drop the item from the Assignment List folder into the Work List folder (or cut and paste it).
The Content Manager assigns the item to you and checks the item out to you.
- Open, edit and save the item as you would any other item in the folder structure, but keep it in the Work List folder.
In this way you perform the Workflow Activity.
- When you are satisfied with your changes to this item, drag-and-drop the item from the Work List folder into the Finish Activity folder.
The Content Manager checks the item back in and assigns it to the next assignee in the Workflow Process.
Note: Some Workflow Activities require you to make a decision about the content: for example, a Workflow Activity can ask you to approve or reject the content. WebDAV offers no interface to communicate this decision and so you cannot perform such Workflow Activities using WebDAV. You must use the Content Manager Explorer interface instead. Refer to the User Manual for details.
