Outscaling the Mailer service for Audience Manager

You can install the Mailer service on a separate machine to improve performance.

Before you begin

You have installed and configured Content Manager Server, Audience Manager and possibly Outbound E-mail on a machine.

If it uses subscription emails, Audience Manager requires a SMTP server to process outgoing emails.

About this task

When you install the Mailer service on a separate machine, you need to configure:

  • the database in OutboundEmail.xml so that each system on which the Mailer service is installed reads from a shared database queue (configured when you run the installer)
  • the user running the Mailer service in the service Properties

Procedure

  1. Access the SDL Tridion Sites installation media.
  2. Navigate to the Content Manager\ directory.
  3. Double-click the executable SDLTridionSites91.exe.
  4. In the features to install screen, switch to the Advanced view and select the following options:Audience Manager > Mailer Service.
  5. Click Next and follow the instructions to complete the installation.
  6. Configure the user that is used to run the Mailer service:
    1. Open Component Services.
    2. Stop the Tridion Audience Manager Mailer service.
    3. Select Tridion Audience Manager Mailer and choose Properties in the context menu.
    4. In the Log On menu, select This account and click Browse and choose your MTSUser account, for example amsdev\MTSUser.
    5. Select a user and click OK (twice):
    6. Restart the Tridion Audience Manager Mailer service.
  7. Optional: Disable the Tridion Audience Manager Mailer running on your Content Manager Server so that you now have one Mailer service running on a separate machine.
