Passolo Pre-processing Tool
For the majority of file types, the Extract Translatable Content step of TMS Pre-processing uses the relevant TMS Pre-processing Tool to extract translatable content from the structure of the file and segment that content for inclusion in a bilingual file for translation. However, since Passolo has already performed these actions, this step does not take place within TMS.
The Passolo Pre-processing Tool is responsible for:
- Extracting the strings to be translated from the Passolo Bundle
- Applying any translation memories from the configured TM Sequence and including any matches found from the strings for the Passolo Bundle
- Determining the word counts of the strings in a Passolo Bundle
- Allocating those word counts to cost bands based on the strings' match percentages
As mentioned above, segments that have a match found in a translation memory are included in the Passolo Bundle as an embedded glossary (*.glo file). These matches are then available to be applied during the linguistic translation phase of the localization workflow using the Passolo Translation Helpers, not by TMS during the Pre-processing step.
Please note that the Passolo Pre-Processing Tool does not support the use of Split Pre-processing-based TMS Workflows for managing Passolo bundles. The single consolidated Pre-processing step must be used.
