Creating projects in Trados

You can create projects with source files retrieved via connectors.

About this task

The Box platform supports working with native Google files. Currently, there is no API endpoint which would allow exporting these files into suitable formats (for example, from .gdoc to .docx). Therefore, at the moment, the connector cannot process these types of files.

While Trados supports the creation of project templates and projects which have the same source and target language, we strongly recommend that you do not submit such projects via connectors. Your content tool or your CMS application may not support the retrieval of files which have the same source and target language.

Procedure

  1. Log in to Trados.
  2. Go to the Projects view.
  3. Select New Project.
  4. In the Location list, select the appropriate location.
Each location has its own connector types. Make sure that the connector type you want to select is available in the selected location.
  5. Identify the Box icon, select the connector, and then the configuration you previously created from Resources > Configuration API. Select the configuration.
    You are redirected to Box.
  6. Log in to Box and allow access.
  7. A modal is displayed and you can select files from your account. Confirm your choice.
The maximum number of uploaded files will be 100. The maximum accepted size for a file is 50 GB.
  8. Create the project. Follow these instructions for Trados Enterprise or these instructions for Trados Team.

Results

The project should be successfully created and displayed in the Projects view.

After your project is completed successfully, the newly translated files are added to a separate folder (on the same navigation level as the original file) that has the same name as the target language you selected. If such a folder does not exist, it will be created. If such a folder already exists, the translated files will be added to that folder.
