Downloading packages for translation

Translate or review the content assigned to you in Trados Enterprise by downloading cloud packages and working on them in Trados Studio. Access the Translate task or the Linguistic Review task assigned to you from the Inbox view.

About this task

If the cloud project includes TMs and termbases, when you download the cloud package, the cloud project's TMs and termbases are automatically included in the package. Keep in mind the following additional information:
  • You can find the TM and termbase resources of the cloud project in the translation or review package, only if your administrator, lead project manager or project manager enabled the Generate Offline Package Resources automated task.
  • You can create cloud packages for tasks which are of the same type, and which belong to the same project. Therefore, you can create a cloud package consisting of one or more Translate tasks, or of one or more Linguistic Review tasks.
  • After you upload the cloud package to Trados Studio, you will have access to the cloud project files, the cloud project TMs (*.sdltm), and the cloud project termbases (MultiTerm *.xml files + the (*.xdt definition).
  • Only termbases corresponding to the language pairs of the project are included in the package.
  • When you create the return package, the original cloud TMs and termbases are not sent back to the cloud environment, but remain available locally in Trados Studio.

The cloud package also includes the QA Checker settings, which are automatically synchronized in Trados Studio.

Procedure

  1. Log in to Trados Enterprise (by accessing this link: http://languagecloud.sdl.com/lc).
  2. Go to the Inbox view.
  3. Select the New tab.
  4. Identify the task and select the check box corresponding to the task row.
  5. Do one of the following:
    • If you don't want to check the task details, but want to start working straight away, select Accept.
    • If you want to check the task details (before accepting it), select the task, and in the [task_name] window, check the task details and select Accept.
  6. Select the Active tab.
  7. Identify the task and select the check box corresponding to the task row.
  8. Select More Actions>Download Package>Split Package>Split by language (optional) >Download. The package includes the files to be translated, as well as the cloud QA Checker settings, which are automatically synchronized in Trados Studio. The package may also include the project resources (TMs and termbases) if Administrators/Lead Project Managers/Project Managers enable the Generate Offline Package Resources step in the project workflow.
    • If you do not select the Split by language check box, the system downloads all the files, from all languages as a single package. If there are more than 300 files, you must split the files into packages consisting of a maximum of 300 files each.
    • If you select the Split by language check box, the system downloads the files in as many packages as target languages. If there are more than 300 files per target language, the system automatically split the files into sub-packages consisting of a maximum of 300 files each.
  9. Log in to Trados Studio and do the following:
    1. Open the package. If the package includes cloud resources, access Project Settings, and check the TMs (*.sdltm file) and the termbases (MultiTerm *.xml file and the *.xdt definition). If the termbases include more language directions than the project, the package will filter out the unnecessary language pairs from the termbase.
    2. Translate the files.
    3. In the Files view, identify the task you worked on, and then, from the context menu, select Create Return Package.

What to do next

After you finish your work, you must return it to Trados Enterprise.
