Account structure
You start off from a default account structure to which you can add as many folders as needed.
Default account structure
- Root (folder)
- Customers (folder)
- Vendors (folder)
The Root folder is the highest location in the hierarchy.
The Customers folder is the location where you add the clients or departments which request translation work from you. You can add as many customer folders under the Customers node.
The Vendors folder is the location where you add the external bodies to which you outsource translation work. You can add as many vendor folders under the Vendors node.
In brief, the default account structure is meant to give you a bare skeleton of your account and to give you the main folders under which you can organize your clients (Customers) and external collaborators (Vendors).
Extended account structure
LSPs work with more than 1 customer, more than 1 department, and more than 1 external collaborating body. Therefore, the default account structure must usually be extended with more than 1 folder.
A folder is created each time you add a customer or a vendor.
- Customers folder
Add as many customer folders to cover all the clients and departments you provide localization services for. This will help you store customer resources where they belong, so that they are easy to find and use.
- Vendors folder
Add as many vendor folders to cover all the external collaborators you subcontract. This will help you store vendor resources where they belong,so that they are easy to find and use.
Let's imagine that your customer are enterprises, that you customer subfolders are different departments within enterprises, and that your vendors are LSPs which provide localization services on an on-demand basis. Your account structure will look like this:
- Root (folder)
- Customers (folder)
- Food Company (folder)
- Dairy Department (subfolder)
- Bakery Department (subfolder)
- Pharmaceutical Company (folder)
- Vaccine Department (subfolder)
- Drug Department (subfolder)
- Food Company (folder)
- Vendors (folder)
- Best Localization Co. (folder)
- Super Localization Co. (folder)
- Customers (folder)
In the next sections, we will dive deeper into understanding how this account structure influences resource inheritance in terms of resource visibility ad user access to these resources.
