Introducing Segment Locking in Trados GroupShare

When creating a project, you can now lock specific segments in project files to prevent them from being edited during translation. This is also useful for minimizing the chances of duplicated efforts or conflicting changes to the text when multiple translators are working on the same document simultaneously.

You can lock segments based on Translation status, Translation origin, or both, which can be applied to All language pairs or specific language pairs. With translation memories, you can specify the Match Value directly on the Segment Locking page. If you're using Neural Machine Translation (NMT), the Machine Translation Quality Estimation (MTQE) introduces an extra level of precision to enhance the translation process. The settings used to lock segments can be viewed in the Project Settings window.

The new Segment Locking feature is available at template creation after the Pre-Translate batch task, in the form of a new batch task called Segment Lock. This batch task is applied through the project template at project creation.

For more information, see the Segment Locking topic in the online help.
