Folder inheritance restrictions based on folder visibility
When you add further Customer folders and subfolders, they are public by default, but you can make them private, if needed.
It is up to you to determine which folder is set to private, but this should be done carefully. When both parent and children folders are set to public, children inherit (see and use) the parent resources. Setting a parent folder to private prevents child folders from inheriting (seeing and using) the parent resources.
As lead project manager you can be a member of Lead Project Manager group in the Customers folder or its children. Your administrator adds you to a group and location of their choice. You can then manage your customer folder and its children (add subfolders, manage users and groups in your subfolder, manage resources in your subfolder, manage subfolder visibility).

- Users located in the Root folder can see and use the resources stored in all the public folders and all the private folders in the hierarchy.
- Users located in the public customer folder (Food Company) can see and use the resources from their folder hierarchy with the exception of brother folders (Pharmaceutical company) and uncle folders (if any).
- Users located in the public customer child folder (Dairy Department) can see and use the resources from their folder hierarchy with the exception of brother folders (Bakery Department) and uncle folders (Pharmaceutical Company).
- Users in the private customer folder (Bread Department) can see and use the resources from their folder hierarchy with the exception of brother folders (Croissant Department) and uncle folders (Dairy Department).
- Users in the public child folders (Gluten Department and Gluten-free Department) cannot see or use the resources in their parent folder (Bread Department) because it is set to private. Instead the public child folders (Gluten Department and Gluten-free Department) can see and use the resources in their folder and the public folders above (Root, Customers, Food Company, Bakery Department).
- If lead project managers set a folder to public, the resources (project resources, users and groups) from this folder are visible to the users in child folders.
- If lead project managers set a folder to private, the resources (project resources, users and groups) from this folder are not visible to the users in child folders. Access to resources is governed by the location of the groups a user belongs to. Make sure users are not included in a group located in the parent folder (or above) of a private folder.
